| April 1, 2008 Robotic Weld cell now in full production! Check out the robotic welding page for more information and pictures. November 1, 2005 After very much success of February 28, 2005 welding school, another school will be held. This will not be just a Custom Engineering held school, but a model for 13 regional counties. The weld school is a go and is scheduled to begin December 1, 2005. It will be held at the Skill Center facility in Erie, PA and will be a 2 shift operation. The course was "Custom designed" to meet our needs and the needs of other local manufactures. It is a pilot program in this area and is being very much scrutinized by the grant officials to be a model for the thirteen county region. We are ramping up our efforts to find 10 suitable candidates and several replacements. The school is scheduled for 160 hrs 8 hours a day for approx. 20 days. Upon successful completion the graduates will be ASME certified. September 1, 2005 Custom Engineering Completes new expansion. This has been a tasking doing. The plans have been on the table for several years, and now was the right time for it to happen. The new addition measures in at 80` X 200` with a 39` height. It will include a state of the art paint booth 45` X 25` x 15` high and fitup table 87` X 15` wide. August 20, 2005 The annual CEC/Lamjen golf outing was held at Crab Apple Ridge golf course. Seven- four person teams participated. It was a scramble format. The winning team @ 10 under par was Dan Orengia from Lamjen, Emmer, Bruce Rickard and Bill Noble. 2nd place @ 7 under par was George Clark, Mike Whelan, and Matt Ruff and Gary Anderson from Lamjen. 3rd place at 2 under par was the team of Andy Tompkins, Dale Allison and Rich Sitler and Mike Frame from Lamjen. Many skill prizes were awarded and a good time was had by all. February 28, 2005 Custom Engineering hosted the first ever in house welding school. Normally our welders are hired already fully qualified and only require training on specialized processes. School began on Feb. 28, 2005 and ended on Mar. 31, 2005. We had 10 students. Five were on 1st shift and 5 were on 2nd. Partial funding was received from The PA Workforce Investment Board and was coordinated through Clarion University and Q.I.S. our of Rochester, NY. We had two instructors, one for each shift, which held classes in an area set aside on the shop floor. The classroom setting was within an isolated section of the shop floor. Here they would feel as if they were in an actual production environment. December 6, 2003 ISO 9001:2000 Certification. Custom Engineering Co. receives ISO 9001:2000 approval through BVQI.
